TO THE KINGDOM OF LAND AND AQUATIC FAUNA
5.5 km long, from 500 to 900 m wide, the Lac au Duc displays beautiful dimensions. Fed by the Yvel River, a palette of natural environments and wetlands welcomes many species. The attentive observers detect the animal presences, from insects to otters, from frogs to deer. The waves are a delight for fishermen who tease white fish and carnivorous fish. According to the specialists who regularly organize challenges, it is the best fishing site in France. A carp of 21 kg is part of the record catch. In these magical waters, other specimens of the same size must cross the mythical vouivre, a monster of the marshes tamed by the monk Armel, which has inspired many tales.
WALKING OR BIKING, IN THE WATER, IN THE AIRS
Once frequented by washerwomen, the riverbanks are now dedicated to leisure activities. Beach, 9-hole golf course, children’s games, picnic area, horseback riding… allow for variety. A 14-kilometer hike takes around the lake. A greenway, the V3, overlooks the lake. Bicycle walking loops crisscross the site. Inviting to dream and stroll, the Hortensia circuit exposes its colorful flowers, its 5500 hydrangeas, along a 3 km walk. A unique botanical collection in Brittany that you can contemplate during an airplane flight ULM or glider from Loyat airfield.
LARRYING THE MOORS IN THE HEAVY GROUND
For many seasons, a yacht club has been moored on the lakefront. With its varied fleet and affordable rates, it allows everyone, experienced helmsmen or youngsters, to enjoy windsurfing, dinghy sailing, catamaran sailing, canoeing and kayaking, but also water skiing, wakeboarding, stand-up paddle or towed buoys. Always ready to open new horizons to the participants, the club also has a HandiVoile section, equipped with adapted boats such as the Mini-Ji which are a reference in this field.
