  • Martine Béchir trained at the Duperré School of Applied Arts in Paris, where she chose the lacquer option. Lacquer, that wonderful material. Martine Béchir began by working with it flat, then turned her attention to volume. After applying papier-mâché to her panels, she realized that this was not enough: roundness suited her better, and so did the paper. So she models it, giving birth to her first sculptures.

What a pleasure it is for her to roll, crumple, knead and model this rejected material, to give life to her "Bestioles". These dreamlike animals, lacquered in bright colors, offer viewers their jovial bonhomie with the sole aim of providing a remedy against gloom.

Out of season, open weekends, public holidays and daily during the photo festival.
