Day 1 – Taking Time to Reconnect
Just a stone’s throw from the coastal crowds, we give you the perfect recipe to recharge your batteries :
– Discover La Gacilly, this charming Breton-style village with its slate roofs, stone walls, flower-filled facades and alleyways, art artisans and local history! Learn about Yves Rocher, from its beginnings in an attic to its foundation by diving for 40 minutes in the heart of a multi-sensory scenography.
– Wander around the 420 menhirs of Monteneuf, the largest megalithic site in inland Brittany and try to discover their secrets. Touch them, observe them, listen to them, they have things to tell you!
– And the little extra before you go to your guest room to get your strength back: Play and remake the world at the Auberge des Voyajoueurs in Monteneuf! On the shelves, on the tables, lining the garden, there are more than 800 games from the 4 corners of the world that will color your day.
– For a good night’s sleep, take advantage of the chic and cozy style of the La Belle Époque guesthouse, located in Ploërmel, in the center of the destination. All you have to do is choose your style: vintage or romantic?
Included in the day:
- Free visit to the menhirs of Monteneuf (workshops recommended, 6.50€ for adults, not included – from 07/07 to 31/08)
- Visit to the Yves Rocher House in La Gacilly
- Night + breakfast at La Belle Epoque Bed and Breakfast in Ploërmel
We also recommend:
- Half day of games at the Auberge des Voyajoueurs in Monteneuf – 8 euros / pers. – on reservation only (14h-19h / school vacations, every day and outside vacations only on weekends)
Day 2 – Entering the Legend
No doubt about it, the entrance to Broceliande is indeed in Paimpont. In fact, all you have to do is push the Door of Secrets and follow Pierre, the park ranger, for 45 minutes of pure wonder. A scenography as we like them, mixing emotion and humor, to get to know the forest and its legends.
Direction then Tréhorenteuc, it is here that the Grail is hidden, or rather the Church of the Grail… The only church in the world dedicated to this legend, it symbolizes the meeting of Celtic and Christian traditions and chivalric stories. But it is also the start of many hikes, the most famous leading to the Val sans retour, to the Fairy Mirror, the Rock of False Lovers and of course the Golden Tree. Our storytellers will guide you between legend and reality throughout the afternoon.
If you are not sure you really know all about the legends of Arthur and his faithful knights, we invite you to the Centre de l’Imaginaire Arthurien in Concoret. Artistic exhibitions and scenographies, workshops, conferences, storytelling walks (and much more), follow one another throughout the year to give life to these heroes and mythical creatures and thus make you forget the border between stories and History.
Included in the day:
- Visit to the Gate of Secrets at Paimpont
- Storytelling walk at Val sans Retour
- Night + breakfast at La Belle époque guesthouse in Ploërmel
We also recommend:
- Visit of the Centre de l’Imaginaire Arthurien in Concoret – 7€ per pers.
Day 3 – Stroll through the narrow streets of our Small Cities of Character
Whether in Josselinor in Malestroit, every step seems to bring you a little closer to the history of Brittany.
Perched from the top of the bell tower of the Basilica of Notre-Dame du Roncier, on an electric boat on the Canal or walking through the gardens of the chateau, you can’t help but fall under the charm of Josselin. At any moment, it seems that a knight in armor or a duchess in crinoline could come to greet us: here everything is only fairy tale.
If you have time, make a detour to Lizio, a typical little village that will amaze you. Indeed, no less than 4 museums (and two escape games) are waiting for you, including a life-size dream factory: the Universe of the Scrap Metal Poet.
Also discover Malestroit, where you can stroll between our flowered half-timbered houses, chat with our dear inhabitants, taste our local products at the market or stroll along the Canal at sunset. For the more adventurous, the Canal will be enjoyed even more aboard a canoe!
Included in the day:
- Tour of the castle of Josselin (opening on 4/07)
- Free access to the Basilica of Our Lady of Roncier (from 4/07 to 31/08 – Monday to Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 2pm-6pm)
We also recommend:
